The MSc Corporate Finance program at UCC has signed an Academic Partnership Agreement with the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Association - the international leader in alternative investment education and provider of the CAIA designation. The MSc Corporate Finance program at UCC’s Department of Accounting, Finance and Information Systems now joins a select group of programmes globally who have Academic Partnership Agreements with CAIA. This agreement, signed at the ceremony in Chartered Accountants House, Dublin, will further enhance the strong links that exist between UCC and CAIA.

The Academic Partnership Agreement was signed by Professor Mark Hutchinson of the Department of Accounting, Finance and Information Systems, UCC, Ms Florence Lombard, CEO CAIA and Dr Keith Black, Managing Director of Curriculum and Exams, CAIA.

CAIA's goal is to promote education in the alternative investment area and, in signing this Academic Partnership Agreement UCC will receive many benefits, including access to scholarships for qualified students and faculty, exclusive complimentary academic license to the CISDM Hedge Fund Database, access to CAIA publications as well as networking opportunities for faculty and students through CAIA events and recognition of the program on the CAIA website.

Speaking at the signing of the Partnership Agreement, Professor Mark Hutchinson said: “We launched the MSc Corporate Finance programme in the depths of the crisis in 2009 and it has a tremendous record of 100% graduate employment. While we cover a deep academic syllabus our differentiator is the focus on developing professional knowledge and skills. We do this by using international industry professionals as adjunct professors and providing industry quality training in professional skills to our students. We are delighted to sign this agreement with CAIA reflecting our shared vision to be at the forefront of international finance education.”

The Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association is the international leader in alternative investment education and provider of the CAIA designation, the alternative industry benchmark. The Association grants the CAIA charter to industry practitioners upon the successful completion of a rigorous two-level qualifying exam. Additionally, it furthers the Association’s educational mandate through the dissemination of research, webinars and videos. CAIA members connect globally via networking and educational events, as well as social media.

The Masters in Corporate Finance, offered by UCC’s Department of Accounting, Finance and Information Systems, is designed to produce graduates who can contribute immediately in the corporate and financial services industry.
